Turf Conversion
In parks across the city, Parks, Recreation and Open Space staff are converting areas of Kentucky bluegrass turf to water-efficient alternatives, such as native grasses in low-usage areas or drought-tolerant Bermuda turf in high-usage areas. This conversion will reduce water usage in these areas by 70 percent, conserving millions of gallons of water while still providing ample space in our parks for public use and enjoyment.
Locations currently undergoing conversion are listed below. The conversion process will begin in spring 2024 and continue through summer. Initial growth will take place over the following months. In areas where conversion is happening, please remain off the grass/dirt and enjoy another area of the park.
As work is being done, guests may see areas at the below locations with brown grass or patches of dirt. This is part of the conversion process and is normal. If there is an area of concern at a park not listed below, please email [email protected] or call Access Aurora at 303.739.7000.
