(May 25, 2023) — The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash near Bicentennial Park.
The crash occurred at 1:49 a.m. Thursday, about 100 feet east of the intersection of East Alameda Parkway and South Potomac Street. A 2016 Cadillac ATS was driving west on Alameda when it struck a man, who was crossing south to north mid-block of Alameda.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The man’s name will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.
The subsequent crash investigation closed westbound Alameda for more than two hours between Interstate 225 and Potomac Street. The roadway reopened shortly after 4 a.m.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither speed nor impairment are suspected as contributing factors of the crash.
