Five members of Aurora Fire Rescue will be promoted to ranks of Battalion Chief and Commander
AURORA, Colo. – Following a competitive internal promotional process, Aurora Fire Chief Fernando Gray made selections for several vacant positions within the department leadership. These promotions will become effective Jan. 4, 2020:
Promoting to Commander
- Battalion Chief Wendy Lippman
- Battalion Chief Steven Wright
Promoting to Battalion Chief
- Capt. George Danforth
- Capt. Mark Hays
- Capt. Dave Reynolds
Promotions were prompted by recent retirements within the Aurora Fire Rescue command staff. Candidates who applied for these positions were tasked with developing solutions to address specific challenges that Aurora Fire Rescue faces now and in the future. These projects served as a tool to assess their capabilities and these real-life objectives were then presented to a panel of reviewers from Aurora Fire Rescue and from other city departments. The project findings and materials will be implemented and will make a real difference in response, preparedness, and safety.
“We congratulate and thank all of the candidates and promoted officers who participated in this process,” Gray said. “We recognize that great organizations are not dependent upon individual leaders but instead rely on traditions, culture and process to ensure that future leaders are identified and prepared to move the organization forward. The promotees have all affirmed that they understand the concept of servant leadership and vowed that they will be fully accountable for their respective areas of responsibility. I am confident that they will serve our community well and I look forward to observing them grow while we move towards a vibrant future.”
