Aurora Fire Rescue declares Stage 2 fire restrictions for city of Aurora
4th of July Spectacular fireworks show will proceed with enhanced safety measures.
Effective immediately, the city of Aurora is under Stage 2 fire restrictions. With extensive fire protection measures in place, the fireworks show planned for the city’s 4th of July Spectacular will continue as planned on the evening of July 4.
With this decision, the sale and use of all consumer fireworks are prohibited. The city’s Stage 2 burn restrictions further prohibit:
- Recreational fires
- Open or prescribed burns
- Outdoor smoking in all city parks and open spaces
- Small internal combustion engines operated without a properly installed, maintained and functioning spark arrestor
- Model rockets
The Aurora 4th of July Spectacular has undergone extensive safety planning and will proceed as scheduled. Aurora Fire Rescue (AFR) will staff multiple fire units around the launch site to quickly extinguish any fires that may result from firework sparks or debris. AFR, the Aurora Police Department, Aurora’s Office of Emergency Management and other city departments will operate under unified command throughout the holiday. AFR also is upstaffing its Wildland specialty crews throughout this weekend to enhance response capacity and proactively patrol the city.
