Tips On Locating A Lost Pet
  • Utilize online resources to post and search the community's lost & found sections. Such online resources include: 24 Pet ConnectFinding RoverPawboostCraigslist, the Nextdoor App and Facebook Pages (such Facebook pages include: Colorado Lost & Found Pets, Lost & Found Pets Aurora Colorado Only, Aurora & Arapahoe County Lost & Found Pets, etc.).
  • Search local animal shelters and humane societies. Check these organizations frequently and provide them with a flyer.
  • Contact your microchip company. If your pet is microchipped, notify the microchip company that your pet is lost and verify that your contact information is up to date. If you are not sure which microchip company to call, contact your vet or where the microchip was implanted. They should have the chip information in your records.
  • Post and pass out flyers. Your flyer should have a good quality photo, a general description of your pet and have your contact information. You can email your flyer to the Aurora Animal Shelter at [email protected].
  • Update your tag information. If your pet is wearing a rabies tag and/or a city license, contact your vet and city shelter to make sure your contact information is up to date.
  • Leave an item of clothing, their bedding or their litterbox outside. The scent from these items can help guide them back home.
