The Aurora City’s Attorney’s Office is legal counsel for the Mayor, City Council and all city agencies, departments and boards and commissions. Our office participates in:
- Financing public improvement projects
- Drafting and reviewing city ordinances
- Drafting and negotiating contracts
- Litigating civil matters in state and federal court
- Advising City Council on state legislation
- Providing general counsel and advice to City Council and city staff

The Criminal Justice Division of the City Attorney's Office is located on the second floor of the Aurora Municipal Court Building. This division is responsible for the prosecution of Municipal Ordinance and Regulation violations and handles all appellate work stemming from such prosecutions.

Who do I contact concerning a Municipal Court matter?
The first step would be to contact Municipal Court, who can then, if necessary, direct you to a Municipal Court prosecutor. They can be reached Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed from noon to 1:30 p.m.), at 303.739.7810.
Who do I contact when I have questions about the status of a police matter that has already been reported, or a charge against me?
Contact the Aurora Police Department directly.
