Colorado State Capitol in Denver

Regional cooperation is key to the city’s success. As such, the city frequently interacts with federal, state and local governments, as well as with intergovernmental organizations such as the Colorado Municipal League and the Denver Regional Council of Governments.

Federal Relations

The state of Colorado is divided into seven congressional districts. The city of Aurora is located in the 6th Congressional District, which is represented by U.S. Congressman Jason Crow.

Colorado's two U.S. senators are Sen. Cory Gardner and Sen. Michael Bennet.

State Relations

The Colorado General Assembly consists of 100 members: 65 in the House of Representatives and 35 in the Senate. The city of Aurora’s legislative delegation consists of two members of the Senate and six members of the House of Representatives. Denver Regional Council of Governments

Denver Regional Council of GovernmentsThe Denver Regional Council of Governments is a planning organization where local governments collaborate to establish guidelines, set policy and allocate funding in the areas of: Transportation and Personal Mobility, Growth and Development, and Aging and Disability Resources.

Mayor Pro Tem Bob Roth serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the DRCOG Executive Committee and the DRCOG Board of Directors. Mayor Pro Tem Roth also serves as a member of the Performance and Engagement Committee. Dave Chambers, Director of Public Works, serves as a member of the Transportation Advisory Committee.

Colorado Municipal League

Colorado Municipal LeagueFounded in 1923, the Colorado Municipal League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization providing services and resources to assist municipal officials in managing their governments and serving the cities and towns of Colorado.

Mayor Pro Tem Bob Roth serves as a member of CML’s Executive Board, with his term expiring June 2020.

National League of Cities

National League of CitiesThe National League of Cities is an advocacy organization in the United States that represents the country's 19,000 cities, towns and villages along with 49 state municipal leagues.

Council Member Charlie Richardson is a member of the Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations policy committee. Council Member Marsha Berzins is the Vice Chair of the Military Communities Council and a member of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention policy committee. Council Member Angela Lawson is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Services policy committee.

United States Conference of Mayors

United States Conference of MayorsThe United States Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are 1,408 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
