Are you looking for space in close proximity to Stapleton Denver, Stanley Marketplace and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus? If so, the city of Aurora invites you to join others like you in the Aurora Cultural Arts District.
The city-owned "People's Building" (formerly a furniture showroom) at 9995 E. Colfax Ave., in Adams County, is scheduled to open April 2017 featuring more than $1.5 million in renovations. These initial improvements will deliver a plain “vanilla” ADA-accessible interior shell on two levels including fully operational lighting, restrooms, heating and cooling, and electrical system with theater-grade power.
The ground floor of the building includes a 1,700-square-foot restaurant (looking for a lessee) and a 4,300-square-foot space for arts programming, including a 3,500-square-foot "open" area (no stage) supported by 180 retractable seats, a high, exposed truss ceiling and finished floors. The remaining 800 square feet of ground floor space can be used to expand the open space or can be set off and used as a lobby or social area. The basement level offers approximately 6,000 square feet of space that can be left open or subdivided to accommodate studios, offices and/or intimate venues.
The city is now working to identify prospective users for both ground floor and basement spaces at extremely competitive rental rates. Parties may seek to rent space either on an hourly, production, or longer-term lease basis (fully negotiable). Interested parties, including individual artists, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, schools, arts-supporting businesses and other arts supportive endeavors, can submit their interest in renting the space by completing this survey.
