Art, Tradition & Love: Quilts on Display

Quilts from Quilting Bee on display, for sale at MLK, Tallyn's Reach Libraries
Posted on 09/13/2021
Quilting is a hobby of passion. Hours of painstaking work that start with selecting the perfect pattern and choosing a palette of colors, to carefully cutting and piecing teeny pieces of fabric and, finally, creating the delicate designs from thread that hold the quilt together. The end result? A fabulous cuddly blanket, or gorgeous wall hanging to brighten your home…and the knowledge that you’ve not only purchased something useful, but something that comes from the heart.

This is your chance to see (and purchase – the holidays are sneaking up on us!) these works of art in person at Tallyn’s Reach and Martin Luther King Jr. Libraries. Various quilts will be on display with designs rotating through these branches throughout the month of September.

Created by the talented Quilting Bee volunteers from the Aurora Center for Active Adults, each quilt is donated to sell, with all proceeds going to the Active Adults Special Projects Fund. The Special Projects Fund purchases resources to provide opportunities for enrichment, education and experiences for Aurora’s active adult population.

If you’re not able to make it in to one of our libraries, be on the lookout for a special Quilt Sale in early December (again…don’t let the holidays sneak up on you!) Quilts are also always on display at the Aurora Center for Active Adults during business hours and Quilting Bee volunteers also take special requests, if you have something in mind for a special occasion.
