High Line Canal Cleanup

High Line Canal photo

The High Line Canal Conservancy has multiple clean-up activities. To volunteer, visit the High Line Canal Conservancy.

People looking for ways to improve the environment within their communities are encouraged to join Aurora Water and the High Line Canal Conservancy at the High Line Canal Cleanup.

The volunteer event, which involves removing trash and debris from the 11-mile stretch of canal that winds through Aurora, is yet to be determined. The goal of the cleanup is to reduce the amount of trash that enters Sand and Toll Gate creeks in Aurora.

Volunteers will be assigned to one of 15 sections along the route, which runs from the intersections of Havana Street and Alameda Avenue to Colfax Avenue and Tower Road. Gloves and trash bags will be provided and section leaders from Aurora Water will be on hand to answer questions and assist throughout the day. Volunteers must be at least eight years old and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Protecting our waterways is everyone’s responsibility. Volunteering for the High Line Canal Cleanup is a great way for individuals, as well as youth, scouting or religious groups, to clean and protect this beautiful and historic recreational amenity.
