Community Resources

With the state’s Stay-at-Home order now in place, be aware that when you are out of your home for an essential activity, the Aurora Police Department is not at this time stopping people for the express reason of validating your reason to be out. If you are stopped for another reason, a police officer may ask what essential activity you are undertaking. Please know that all Aurora police officers, Aurora park rangers, code enforcement officers and public health officials will readily identify themselves, and have government identification and business cards. Specifically, uniformed Aurora Police Officers have patches on both shoulders of their uniform, a badge and a nameplate. If you are ever concerned you are being contacted by someone impersonating any government official (police, fire, EMS, Public Health, etc.) please call 911. If you believe you are being pulled over by a police impersonator, please turn on your hazard lights, call 911 and drive to the nearest police station while you stay on the phone with the dispatcher and follow their instructions.
