(Aug. 7, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the 3200 block of Peoria Street.
Approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting at an outdoor parking lot. When officers arrived, they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transferred to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Witness statements and evidence collected from the scene found the victim had been in a verbal altercation with another adult male shortly before being shot. The victim was sitting in his car and the suspect was sitting in another car parked next to the victim. The suspect quickly drove away from the scene after the gunshot. Witnesses in the area attempted life-saving measures on the victim until emergency services arrived. The deceased individual will be identified by the Adam's County Coroner’s Office.
The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit, along with the Crime Scene Unit and Victims Services Unit responded to the incident. This investigation is ongoing.
