(Aug. 3, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred early Thursday morning in the Side Creek neighborhood.
Officers responding to a different call encountered the crash site at 2:41 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of South Tower Road and East Kansas Place. The investigation revealed a blue Cadillac SUV was driving north on Tower Road when it left the roadway, traveled through several backyards and rolled.
The driver, a man and only occupant of the vehicle, was partially ejected during the crash and died at the scene. He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
South Tower Road between East Mississippi and East Louisiana avenues was closed for almost eight hours for the crash investigation. The roadway reopened to normal traffic at 10:17 a.m.
The crash marks the 43rd traffic-related death this year in Aurora.
