On September 6, 2016, at approximately 9:42 am, Aurora Police and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the 20300 block of E Jewell Ave on the report of an auto/motorcycle crash. The on-scene investigation shows that a motorcycle, with one rider was westbound on E. Jewell Ave.  A red Toyota Tacoma pickup was eastbound attempting to make a left turn into the viewing parking lot south of Buckley Air Force Base. The pickup turned left in front of the motorcycle. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. The rider was transported to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup was cooperative with the investigation and was charged with Careless Driving Resulting In Death. Neither alcohol nor speed is considered a factor in the crash. The names of the parties involved are not being released at this time. The Aurora Police Department Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
