(November 4) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating after a rollover crash on Interstate 225 results in a man losing his life.

On November 4, 2021, at approximately 05:30 a.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash on northbound Interstate 225 near East 6th Avenue. Officers located a Subaru Outback that had been involved in this rollover crash. Officers also located the adult driver, who had been ejected from the vehicle. The driver was tragically pronounced deceased on scene.

Initial information gathered by Aurora Police Traffic Investigators is that the Subaru was traveling northbound Interstate 225 in the far-left lane. Witnesses described a dark colored SUV, traveling at a high rate of speed in the center lane, quickly changed lanes into the left lane. Witnesses believed that this dark colored SUV made physical contact with the front end of the Subaru. The Subaru driver then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and eject the driver. The dark colored SUV continued northbound on Interstate 225 and did not stop.

The identity of the driver will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash, has dash-camera footage, or has any information on the dark colored SUV, to call the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867. By using Crime Stoppers, tipster can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

(October 31) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash on South Chambers Road that tragically left one teenage boy deceased.

On October 31, 2021, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on South Chambers Road near East Hampden Circle. Officers located a 15-year-old boy who had been struck by a Subaru Forester. The teenage boy was transported to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, remained on scene.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators determined the Subaru was traveling northbound on South Chambers Road just south of East Hampden Circle. Initial investigations indicate that the teenage boy stepped into the pathway of the vehicle and was struck. Aurora Police Traffic Investigators do not believe that the Subaru was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Drugs or alcohol also do not appear to be additional contributing factors.

The identity of the teenage boy will be released the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the incident, and have not yet spoke to police, to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.

On October 18, 2021 at approximately 7:50p.m. Aurora Police responded to a call of a person struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Village Green Park which is located at 1300 South Chambers Circle.  It was reported that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene on foot.

Upon arrival first responders located a 14-year-old male trapped underneath a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Mini-van.  The Aurora Fire Rescue Department had to extricate the male from under the vehicle. Sadly, the young man did not survive the crash and was pronounced at the scene.

Investigators from the Traffic Section believe that the mini-van, which was a stolen vehicle, was being driven by a juvenile female at the time of the crash.  The victim was hanging on the front of the vehicle when he slid off, fell underneath, and was then run over.

The driver of the vehicle eventually returned to the scene of the crash and spoke with investigators. At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time. It will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

(October 13) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash on East Iliff Avenue and South Buckley Road that tragically left the driver and two pedestrians deceased.

On October 13, 2021, at approximately 01:12p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash on East Iliff Avenue and South Buckley Road. Officers located a 2003 white Chevrolet Astro van that had been occupied by two adults, a male and a female, which had come to rest against a tree.

The driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead on scene and the passenger, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. It is believed the driver died as a result of a medical emergency. Two of three pedestrians were adult females and were pronounced dead on scene. Officers contacted the third pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle and transported to the hospital.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators believe the Astro van was traveling westbound on Iliff Avenue just east of South Buckley Road. The driver was experiencing a medical emergency, resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle. The van ran off the road, onto the sidewalk and struck the pedestrians. The van came to a complete stop after crashing into a tree.

The identity of the driver and two pedestrians will be released the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the crash, and have not yet spoke to police, to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.

(October 12) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 70 that tragically left one adult deceased.

On October 11, 2021, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash on Interstate 70 near North Airport Boulevard. Officers located a Lexus sedan that had been occupied by two adults, a male and a female. Officers contacted the male driver who was injured as a result of the crash. The female passenger in the vehicle died on scene as a result of this crash. The male was transported and remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators determined the Lexus was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 just west of North Airport Boulevard. The driver observed an object in the roadway and swerved to avoid it, causing the vehicle to lose control. The vehicle spun around 180 degrees, struck the highway cable guardrail and caught on fire. Aurora Police Traffic Investigators do not believe that the Lexus was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Drugs or alcohol also do not appear to be additional contributing factors.

The identity of the passenger will be released the Adams County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the crash, and have not yet spoke to police, to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.

(October 1) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating after young man dies from crash involving sedan while riding his dirt bike.

On October 1, 2021, at approximately 08:25 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash on Havana Street near East 6th Avenue. Officers located a non-street-legal dirt bike and a Cadillac sedan that were involved. The operator of the dirt bike, a 17-year-old male, was transported to the hospital where he was tragically pronounced deceased a short time later. The driver of the sedan did not require medical attention.

Initial information gathered by Aurora Police Traffic Investigators is that the sedan was making a left-hand turn from northbound Havana Street to go westbound on Hanover Way. The dirt bike was traveling southbound on Havana Street at a high rate of speed and disregarded the red light at East 6th Avenue. After going through the East 6th Avenue intersection, the dirt bike collided with the side of the sedan while it was turning. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors for the driver of the sedan.

The identity of the young man is not being released at this time. The Arapahoe County Coroner will release the name once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the crash, and have not yet spoke to police, to call the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867. (September 19) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 225 that tragically left one teenager deceased, another injured.

On September 19, 2021, at approximately 08:50 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a crash on Interstate 225 near the East 6th Avenue exit. Officers located a Chevrolet Silverado that had been occupied by two young persons, a man and a woman, who are both 17-years-old. Officers attempted to perform lifesaving measures on the person whom we believe is the driver before he was transported to the hospital. This man was tragically pronounced deceased a short time later. The woman remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators believe the Silverado was traveling northbound on Interstate 225 just north of East 6th Avenue. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to roll-over at least once, resulting in both occupants being ejected. Aurora Police Traffic Investigators also believe that the Silverado was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were additional contributing factors.

The identity of the driver is not being released at this time.

(September 19) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two adults early this morning in northeast Aurora.

On September 19, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of East 38th Avenue and North Windsor Drive. Upon arrival, officers found two occupants inside of a Chevrolet Malibu. Those two individuals, only being identified as adults, were pronounced deceased on scene. Additionally, a Chevrolet Cruz was also located, and that driver was transported to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators believe the Chevrolet Cruz was traveling eastbound on East 38th Avenue. The Chevrolet Malibu was making a left-hand turn from North Windsor Drive to go westbound on East 38th Avenue. The Cruz then collided with the Malibu.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators believe that the Cruz was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were also contributing factors. This remains an active investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

The identity of the driver and passenger of the Malibu are not being released at this time. The Adams County Coroner's Office will release their names once positive identifications has been made and their next-of-kin have been notified.

(August 26) This morning at about 5:30 a.m. officers responded to a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the southbound lanes of South Tower Road at East Dartmouth Avenue.

Upon officer’s arrival they discovered an adult male victim in the roadway who was struck by a silver 2014 Toyota RAV4 while the victim was in the crosswalk. Tragically, the pedestrian died at the scene as a result of his injuries from the crash.

The driver of the RAV4 remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs, speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors contributing to the cause of the crash. Rather, the early investigation suggests the crash occurred due to the pedestrian walking against the pedestrian crosswalk signal, and the driver did not see the pedestrian.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next-of-kin have been notified.

Anyone who may have witnessed this fatal crash or otherwise have any information related to it, are asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP. Your tips there can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.00.
