The Aurora Police Department is announcing an arrest in the homicide that left one person dead on October 31, 2018 near North Billings Street and East Montview Boulevard.
A 15-year-old male was arrested last night on October 31, 2018 for the charge of First Degree Murder. The male’s identity and photograph cannot be released because of his status as a juvenile.
The criminal case remains open and to protect the integrity of that investigation, no further information is available at this time. The prosecution of the case is now in the hands of the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Further media inquiries should be referred to their office.

Information Previously Released on October 31, 2018
On October 31, 2018, at approximately 11:14 A.M., Aurora Police Department responded to the area of North Billings Street and East Montview Boulevard on a report of shots fired in the area. The reporting party was a deputy from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, who was in the area conducting an unrelated investigation. Assistance from the Aurora Police Department was immediately requested.
Officers quickly arrived and found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers administered lifesaving measures and the adult male victim was then rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. The deceased victim will be identified at a later date by the Adams County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of next of kin.
For a short period of time, Sable Elementary was on a secure perimeter which has since been lifted. Residents in the area also received a reverse 911 call telling them to shelter in place while officers were continuing to search the area.
Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Detectives responded to the scene along with additional police resources. As part of the on-going investigation, detectives will work to determine what led up to the shooting. At this time, there are no suspects in custody. We are asking for the public’s assistance in solving this murder and gathering any information that witnesses may have. On October 28, 2018 at approximately 3:08 A.M., a 26-year-old female tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the sidewalk near East Iliff Avenue and South Pagosa Way. Today, the Aurora Police Department is announcing the arrest of a male in connection with this incident. As a result of the on-going investigation, Timothy Scott Knutson (DOB 01/31/1981) was arrested for the following charges: Vehicular Homicide; Leaving the Scene After an Accident Involving Death; Careless Driving Resulting in Death; and Driving Under the Influence. Knutson is pictured below.
The criminal investigation remains open and therefore no further details will be made available. The criminal prosecution is in the hands of the 18th Judicial District so further media inquiries should be directed to their office. The victim will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.

Information previously released on October 28, 2018
On October 28th, 2018, at 3:08 AM, Aurora Officers were dispatched to a call of a welfare check of a person down on the sidewalk on East Iliff Avenue east of South Pagosa Way. When Officers arrived, they found a deceased 26 year old female on the south sidewalk.
Their investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle had left the roadway for an unknown reason and drove up onto the south sidewalk. The vehicle continued east on the south sidewalk where it struck the female, a street sign and then managed to get back onto eastbound East Iliff Avenue. The driver did not remain on scene and so far, there are no witnesses to the victim being struck.
The victim's name is not being released at this time. Eastbound East Iliff Avenue was closed at South Pagosa Way during the investigation.

On October 27th, 2018, at 4:24 PM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Iliff Avenue and South Kittredge Way on a report of a vehicle versus bicycle crash. When they arrived, they determined that a White 2004 Lincoln Navigator driven by a 36 year old male was going southbound on South Kittredge Way preparing to turn right onto East Iliff Avenue. The driver (and sole occupant of the Navigator) did not see the 79 year old male bicyclist riding on the sidewalk to his right. The bicyclist was attempting to go straight across East Iliff Avenue when the Navigator turned right and struck him.
The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounce deceased. The driver of the Navigator remained on scene as was not injured.
Traffic investigators are handling the investiagation. They will determine what, if any, charges are applicable. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. Names of both parties are not being released at this time. Westbound East Iliff Avenue was closed during this investigation.

On October 26th, 2018 at approximately 8:15 pm, Aurora Dispatch received several reports of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of South Havana Street and East Mexico Avenue. Upon arrival, one driver was found unresponsive. Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital with one later being pronounced deceased by medical staff. The other driver does not appear to have life threatening injuries at this time. There were no other occupants in the vehicles.
At this time, the involvement of alcohol and speed will need to be determined.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. This accident marks the 25th accident related fatality in Aurora for 2018.

On Wednesday September 13, 2018 the Aurora Police Department began investigating a reported sex assault of a 17 year-old girl that occurred in the 2100 block of South Vaughn Way in the afternoon.
On Saturday September 15, 2018 another sexual assault was reported to have occurred on Wednesday September 13, 2018 of another 17 year-old female in the 12400 block of East Jewell Avenue, also in the afternoon.
Initially, the investigators did not believe the two incidents were related due to discrepancies in the suspect’s description including the vehicle involved.
In both cases Aurora Police Investigators, Police Area Representative Officers, and School Resource Officers began working immediately to collect evidence, interview potential witnesses, and working with school officials of these sexual assaults to include potential suspect information.
Aurora Police Investigators worked with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to expedite DNA testing results, and reviewed the Sex Offender registry for potential leads.
Aurora Police Investigators received those DNA results approximately two weeks after the evidence was submitted, which led to the arrest of Ble Ghislain Kore DOB 10/2/1994 on Tuesday October 16, 2018 by the Aurora Police Department.
Kore will be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s office with at least two counts of Colorado Revised Statute 18-3-402 Sexual Assault, a Class 2 Felony.
The Aurora Police Department is very concerned for the potential of other victims of Kore, both in and outside of Aurora. Victim Advocates are available to help all victims navigate the reporting process. On October 12th, 2018 at approximately 1:06 pm, Aurora Dispatch received a call of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of South Parker Road and East Lehigh Avenue near the entrance to Cherry Creek State Park.
Aurora officers and rescue personnel responded to the scene and it was determined that one of the drivers would be transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. This driver was later pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the accident.
The Aurora Police Traffic Section will be conducting follow-up investigation regarding this incident.
The identity of the driver is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors at this time. This accident results in the 24th traffic related fatality in Aurora for 2018.

On Thursday October 11, 2018 at approximately 5:15 p.m. Aurora Police officers responded to the 12000 block of East Exposition Avenue on a report of an attempted child abduction which just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers learned an 11 year-old female was walking alone eastbound on East Exposition Avenue from South Nome Street. A white male suspect, who was walking westbound on East Exposition Avenue, grabbed her and placed his hand over her mouth. The female fought off the suspect by screaming and biting his hand. This caused the suspect to release her, and he fled on foot westbound from East Exposition Avenue.
A White or Hispanic male driving a black older model four-door sedan was traveling eastbound on East Exposition Avenue and may have witnessed the attempted abduction. It is important to note this person is only a witness, not a suspect. We are asking for that person(s) to please contact the Aurora Police Department at 303-627-3100.
Officers immediately began searching the area for the suspect, and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses. A resident in the area had a surveillance system which captured the suspect running. It did not capture the attempted abduction.
The suspect was described by the victim as a white male, thin build, approximately 39 years of age, wearing sunglasses, with hair under his chin and approximately 6’4” tall. The suspect was wearing a black or blue hooded jacket, blue jeans, a backpack and black and white shoes.
On Friday October 12, 2018 Aurora Police officers and detectives arrested the adult male suspect in his 30’s, at approximately 3:49 p.m. The suspect is a stranger to the victim.
The suspect will be charged with the following crimes:
• 18-3-404 Second Degree Unlawful Sexual Contact-Criminal Attempt, Class 5 Felony
• 18-3-302 Second Degree Kidnapping-Criminal Attempt, Class 5 Felony
The suspect is not eligible for bond, and this case will be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office after those charges are accepted.
At this time the Aurora Police Department will not be releasing the suspects name or booking photo so that we do not compromise the active and ongoing investigation.

It was determined enough information had come together to place the suspect under arrest for the attempt abduction of an 11-year-old girl. I could not be more proud of the incredible work and tenacious investigation that went into taking this individual off the street. The Aurora community is blessed to have officers and technicians committed to keeping our community safe. I also want to give a very special shout out to the young lady who was attacked. She fought hard for her safety and stayed aware of her surroundings in order to provide valuable information to officers and detectives.”
Aurora Police investigators are still seeking information related to the homicide that occurred on September 28, 2016 at approximately 8:09 p.m. at 2072 North Iola Street.
Tragically on this date Miguel Freyre-Vieweg DOB 9/27/94 was gunned down. Despite all investigative efforts, and following up on all leads, this homicide remains unsolved.

On Wednesday September 28th, 2016 around 8:09 p.m. officers responded to 2072 North Iola Street in the Boston Heights neighborhood on a report of an injury with a weapon call.
Upon officers arrival they located an adult male who was identified as Miguel Freyre-Vieweg DOB 9/27/94 with injuries to his head. Officers were unable to confirm the cause of his injuries at that time. Miguel was transported to a local hospital where further examination revealed Miguel had been shot in the head. Miguel succumbed to his injuries three days later on Saturday October 1, 2016.
Detectives and investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit have taken over the investigation and are asking for your help in identifying who is responsible for Miguel's murder. Miguel was a father and a husband. The attached photo if of Miguel and was provided by his family.

NATURE: Roadside Sobriety Checkpoint- Saturday, September 29th, 2018
Aurora, Colorado- The Aurora Police Department will be conducting a Stationary Roadside Sobriety Checkpoint on Saturday, September 29th, 2018. This is part of our continuing commitment to the statewide effort to combat drunk drivers and reduce alcohol related traffic accidents and fatalities. This checkpoint is part of the DUI Checkpoint Colorado program. This checkpoint will be located on Peoria St.
Motorists passing through the checkpoint will be contacted briefly by an officer who will be looking for signs of intoxication and/or impairment in the driver. The checkpoint should cause only minor inconvenience to traffic along the targeted roadway, and highly visible signage will be posted leading into the checkpoint screening area. Drivers entering a checkpoint are asked to pay close attention to the officers directing traffic through the area. Motorists should also roll down their drivers’ side window as they approach the screening area. This allows for better communication between the motorist and the officer, quicker screening and a shorter delay overall.
The checkpoint is funded by an N.H.T.S.A. (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) grant in partnership with the “Heat is On” campaign and administered by the Colorado Department of Transportation.

On September 18th, 2018 at approximately 10:22 pm, Aurora Police responded to northbound I-225 between East Alameda Avenue and East Sixth Avenue on the report of a single car rollover accident.
The single occupant driver was declared deceased on scene. According to witnesses, speed does appear to be a factor in this accident. The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs has not been determined.
The identity of the driver is not being released at this time until notification of next of kin has been made.
This will be the 23rd traffic related fatality in Aurora for 2018.
