(November 16) At 4:36 p.m. Monday, Aurora 911 received calls about a woman who had been hit by a car near the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and South Uvalda Street. Aurora police officers and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found a 30-year old woman lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

First responders provided aid at the scene and then drove the woman to the hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries Tuesday night. Her name will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after next of kin has been notified.

The initial investigation determined a gray Honda Pilot was turning onto eastbound East Mississippi Avenue from southbound South Uvalda Street and crashed into the woman who was crossing East Mississippi Avenue in the crosswalk.

The driver of the Honda Pilot remained on scene, immediately called Aurora 911, and has been cooperative with the investigation.

Aurora Police Department Traffic Section investigators responded to the scene and closed the intersection for several hours to collect evidence, photograph the scene and take necessary measurements. The factors contributing to the crash remain under investigation as of Wednesday morning.

If you witnessed the crash, have dash camera video, or have any additional information, and you have not already spoken to investigators, please contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).

This is the 44th traffic related fatality of 2022.
