On May 21st, 2020, at 6:29 p.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to reports of a fight that led to a shooting at Utah Park located at 1800 South Peoria Street. All involved parties fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
A short time later officers learned an adult male was dropped off, by an unknown party, at an area hospital with a gunshot wound, and was in critical condition. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified, and his next of kin have been notified.
A second male arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound and is expected to survive. This male arrived via ambulance from a location in Arapahoe County.
At this time, we do not have anyone in custody, and are actively working to determine who the suspect(s) are. At this early stage in the investigation we believe this was an isolated incident, and there is not an immediate danger to the public.
This incident is now being investigated as a Homicide by the Aurora Police Department Major Crimes/Homicide Unit.
