On November 10, 2021 at approximately 3:29p.m. Aurora Police responded to a report of a carjacking at the Florida Station Apartments located at 14082 East Iowa Drive.  While officers were responding to the call they learned that someone had been shot. Upon arrival officers located an adult male in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The initial investigation reveals that the victim was in the parking lot when he was approached by a male subject. The male produced a gun and shot the victim.  He stole the victim's vehicle and fled the scene. It is believed that the suspect then committed two home invasion robberies and several carjackings in Aurora and Northeast Denver.  He is also suspected of causing two injury crashes one in Denver and the second on East 56th Avenue in the area of E470 in Aurora.  The final crash is where the suspect was apprehended by the Denver Police Department at around 5:00p.m.

The suspect was taken into custody by Aurora Police and was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for injuries he sustained as a result of the crashes he was involved in.

The Major Crimes Homicide Unit is handling the investigation into this case.  It remains an open and active investigation with multiple crime scenes. Since this investigation is still in it's early stages no additional details or information on the suspect is expected to be released this evening.  The identity of the homicide victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Aurora Police.

On Friday, March 16, 2018 at approximately 2:09 p.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to a shooting in the area of East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Village East Grocery Store located at 1161 S Peoria St.

It is believed that the female victim is the owner of the grocery store and that she sustained her injuries during a robbery of the business. The female was transported to a local hospital where she currently remains in serious but stable condition.

During the investigation, officers determined that a Good Samaritan confronted the robbery suspect outside of the grocery store and the Good Samaritan shot the suspect. The suspect then fled the area.

A short time later, officers made contact with an adult male who was suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of South Joliet Street and East Garden Drive. Officers believe that the male was the robbery and shooting suspect who had fled from the area of the grocery store. The male was placed in custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

This robbery and shooting is still being investigated. We are asking if anyone has information about this incident to contact Sergeant Thomas Graham at 303-739-1809

This morning at approximately 8:15 a.m. Aurora Police were dispatched to a report of a weapons violation that had occurred in the 14400 Block of E. Mississippi Ave.

Upon arrival officers had learned that a male subject had robbed another male at gunpoint and was seen running into a townhouse at that location.  As Officers were preparing to make telephone contact inside of the townhouse a female occupant exited and was detained by officers. Orders were given for the other occupants of the townhouse to exit, several individuals complied with the orders and exited including the male suspected of committing the original robbery. As officers at the front of the townhouse were giving commands to exit the residence, an officer posted at the rear of the location observed a male subject attempt to flee out the back door. When he observed the officer he ran back inside.

Since it was not clear whether or not a potentially armed suspect was still inside of the residence the Aurora Police SWAT Team was mobilized. Once Detectives obtained a search warrant the SWAT Team made entry into the townhouse. They did not located any other individuals inside. Two handguns were found inside; however it is not clear at this time as to whether or not they were used during the robbery. The original suspect was taken into custody for Aggravated Robbery.

Eastbound Mississippi Avenue was closed for several hours from S. Blackhawk St. to S. Sable Blvd. during the incident.
